Rogers Arena, Vancouver 04.04.15 Saw Fleetwood Mac for the first time last night. As anyone who was there will tell you.excellent show. Kind of a time-warp gig because they looked very much like the 80's version of Fleetwood Mac and sounded just as good. In a way they are the perfect band for Vancouver: Ex-hippies, made up in the main by 60+ Brits, and multiple divorcees. Just like any coffee shop crowd in West Vancouver. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie showed us all what a tight rhythm section can do. They were at the core of everything good that happened last night. And on a fashion note it's good to see waistcoats holding there own as band attire. If I'm honest though it was really the Lindsay Buckingham show.he was so impressive technically and he knows how to work a crowd. The crowd in question was very enthusiastic, some a little too enthusiastic. I had to restrain myself from throttling the mental pigmy in the row behind us. The little darling insisted on talking incessantly throughout the whole show. I don't mean in between songs (you know.the odd comment or witty observation). I mean constant drivel for the whole two hours plus. For you delectation here's a little sample of what the squeaky-voiced harridan had to share with us all, and I'm paraphrasing slightly: "Who's the guitarist? He's very good isn't he?" The chap in question was the aforementioned Mr. Buckingham. Anyway back on stage Fleetwood Mac played practically all of Rumours.the show started with 'The Chain'. We were also treated to a little of the history of the band thanks to chats with Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham (remember him?) I can only hope my verbose friend in the row behind was taking notes. Next gig for Kate and me: The Waterboys at UVic, May 20th. B there or B Squared. Cheers, Pauly
