Ch Ch Ch Changes

When you get to a certain age one of the many things you come to realize is that change is inevitable. This is particularly true when it comes to bands. Apart from the usual suspects still doing world tours (U2 etc.) there aren’t many bands that stay together for any length of time. In fact if you look deep enough into the history of even the biggest names you’ll see personnel changes early on…The Beatles, The Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd…hopefully you get the picture.
Now The Celtic Cowboys get to join these illustrious icons of rock by parting ways with a founding member. Justine has decided to pursue her musical dreams elsewhere. The gigs on December 3rd and 6th were her last with the band. The Cowboys have always been a bit of a schizophrenic outfit and maybe the wider than usual age difference between certain members added to this.
There’s a clue in the band name. Some of us are more Cowboy than Celtic some more Celtic than Cowboy. Justine feels she’d rather be doing 100% country, hence her decision to leave. We’d like to wish her all the best; she’ll be a tough act to follow. Kate Fletcher has also decided to hang up her mic. so we are currently down two female voices.
We’ll be taking a little time over the next few weeks to plan out a new direction for the band; possibly with new vocalists, certainly with new material. The first gig with our new line-up and new sound will be Burns Night, January 25th 2016 at the usual place: Deep Cove Brewers & Distillers. We are planning to repeat the fantastic Burns Night we had this year with Haggis and Whisky on offer as well as live music.
