Circus Circus

So we’ve finally got an original song up on the website. Hope you like it. Circus Circus is only just coming into our live set. The basic idea (comparing a relationship coming to and end and someone leaving the circus) came to me after I heard (or mis-heard) a song on Sirius Radio. As usual I wrote the lyrics first in true Bernie Taupin fashion. The main riff for the verse came after some noodling about with a D chord. You start with a straight D then drop down to an E7 as the vocal line progresses…easy peasy (don’t forget to put a capo on the third fret).

Reg is featured heavily on the instrumental break: flute solo, harpsichord and strings at the same time! I think the whole thing has a George Martin/Mid-sixties McCartney feel to it…which is no bad thing in my book. We’ve got few more songs almost ready to post. They just need a little final mixing. So watch this space for Country in my Boots and First Day Ashore. We’ll try to get those two up in the next week or so.

Looking forward to the triple threat of gigs over the next few days. First time at the Central City Brew pub in Surrey and off to Merritt on the 14th ...and back to Central City for St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th. The sets feature Irish/Celtic material quite heavily as essentially we are the live music for several St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. I’ll post match reports from these up-coming gigs…if I stay sober enough to write anything down.

Cheers, Pauly
